Great Britain, Scott #310 (Stanley Gibbons #S537a), used(o), 1958, British Castles, First Set, Second Printer: Caernarvon Castle, a medieval fortress at Gwynedd in northwest Wales, the current structure was started by King Edward I of England in 1283 and completed in 1330, it was besieged and captured several times in the 1400s; between 1642 and 1651, it was held by Royalists and besieged three times by Parliamentarian forces; this was the last time the castle was used in war; the castle was the backdrop for the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1911 and again in 1969; stamp shows Caernavron through a broken grotto window in a castle wall as a common theme for the series as designed by Lynton Lamb (1907-1977), painter, designer, and wood engraver, 5 shillings, engraved and second printed by DeLaRue (dull coloring, shallow perforation hollows), perforated: 11x12, watermarked: multiple Saint Edward's Crowns and E3R initials in reverse print (Scott watermark #308)(Stanley Gibbons watermark #165), color: Scott (crimson) Stanley Gibbons (dull scarlet vermilion), Scott 2022 catalog value: $4.25, Stanley Gibbons 2022 Catalog Premium for DeLaRue printing x 1.50, very slightly off-centered, light, three-quarter oval, black-inked, double-rimmed, three-quarter clockwise inverted, broken-up and hollowed-out, socked-on-the-nose cancellation over the middle of the stamp, however the lightness of the cancel and its broken-up and hollowed-out effects leave the main images remarkably clear, sound back, good perforations; centering and largely image clear cancel warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive.
Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.50 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.66 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used. If not satisfied, return the stamp to me at your own expense, and I will refund the cost, but not my postage to you. If the stamp is not as described, I will refund the cost and reimburse you for postage both ways.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society (APS) member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
