On January 16, 1992, in Castillo de Chapultepec (Mexico), after more than twenty-eight months of arduous negotiations, the Salvadoran Government of President Alfredo Cristiani and the armed opposition of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) signed the agreements of peace. Approximately 95 pages and 27 Annexes, this text put an end to a bloody civil war born in the late 1970s - when, while electoral fraud became increasingly unbearable, popular struggles developed - between an authoritarian regime and an Revolutionary guerrillas were also stimulated in 1979, by the victory of the Sandinistas over the dictator Anastasio "Tachito" Somoza in Nicaragua. In full east-west confrontation, this same year 1979 was also characterized by the election in the White House of Ronald Reagan, Republican who supported the financial means, the Pentagon and the lobby of the defense industry.
El 16 de enero de 1992, en el Castillo de Chapultepec (México), después de más de veintiocho meses de arduas negociaciones, el Gobierno salvadoreño del Presidente Alfredo Cristiani y la oposición armada del Frente Farabundo Martí de liberación nacional (FMLN) firmaron los acuerdos de paz. Aproximadamente 95 páginas y 27 Anexos, este texto puso fin a una sangrienta guerra civil nacida a finales de los años 1970 – cuando, mientras que los fraudes electorales se hacían cada vez más insoportables, las luchas populares se desarrollaban – entre un régimen autoritario y una guerrilla revolucionaria además estimulada en 1979, por la victoria de los sandinistas sobre el dictador Anastasio “Tachito” Somoza en Nicaragua. En plena confrontación este-oeste, este mismo año 1979 también se caracterizó por la elección en la Casa Blanca de Ronald Reagan, republicano que apoyaban los medios financieros, el Pentágono y el lobby de la industria de la defensa.
