Argentina 2023 ** Rescue Swedish scientific expedition. ARA Uruguay corvette.
The Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901-1904) was led by Swedish geologist Otto Nordenskjöld. It was one of the first scientific expeditions to Antarctica, then a completely unexplored continent. Carl Anton Larsen was the captain of the expedition ship, the Antarctic, a sailing ship fitted with an auxiliary steam engine, which departed the port of Gothenburg on 16 October 1901. The Antarctic set sail from the Falklands on 5 November 1902. the search for Nordenskjöld's group, heading to Ushuaia, where he sent messages to the Government of Argentina and the Swedish authorities about the planned routes and camps. Larsen had left the necessary instructions for a rescue operation that would have to be organized if they had not returned by April 1903. When December arrived, the Antarctic ship that was supposed to pick them up could not reach the island due to the abundant ice that had formed that year along the Antarctic Peninsula. The Antarctic was three days' sail from the island but all its searches for passage through the ice were fruitless. The expedition members were divided into three groups isolated from each other. After several months, as the thaw began, Larsen tried to meet up with the rest of his companions; on November 9, 1903, he finally arrived at Cerro Nevado.

Argentina 2023 ** Rescate expedición científica sueca. Corbeta ARA Uruguay.
