United States, Scott #4504, used(o), 2011, Definitive Issue, stamp shows President George Washington, from the 1795 ‘The Athenaeum’ portrait by Gilbert Stuart; interestingly, although Stuart made numerous copies from this original, he never completed the original work; Washington (1732-1977) was an American Founding Father; Commander-In-Chief of the victorious American Forces during the Revolutionary War; served as President of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 which drafted and ratified the Constitution of the United States; was twice elected President of the newly formed United States by the Electoral College; and after serving two terms, retired; he set enduring precedents for the Office of President, including staunch republicanism, a peaceful transfer of power, the use of the republican title ‘Mr. President’ and the two term tradition; his ‘Farewell Address’ in 1796 became the preeminent statement on republicanism in which he wrote about the importance of national unity and the dangers of regionalism, partisanship, and foreign influence to a republic, 20 cents, serpentine die cut 11½x10¾, offset lithography printed by Ashton Potter USA (APU), non-water soluble self-adhesive, ‘USPS’ in microprint on the president’s neck scarf, multicolored, Scott 2025 Catalog Value: 25¢, very slightly off-centered, black-inked, quarter circular, possibly single-rimmed, socked-on-the-nose corner cancel at the top left and clear of the main image, several 'tipped' perforations along the left side, otherwise good perforations, this stamp was soaked from the mailing envelope using the Bestine solvent and placed, first on a piece of white paper for color contrast, and then on a piece of black trimmed card stock for an attractive and uniform album mounting; centering, mounting, and image clear cancel warrant a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive.

If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.68 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used. If not satisfied, return the stamp to me at your own expense, and I will refund the cost, but not my postage to you. If the stamp is not as described, I will refund the cost and reimburse you for postage both ways.
