Stamp information:
The Paphiopedilum genus originates from the Indo-Malay region (South China, Southeast Asia, Pacific islands, etc.), India. The name Paphiopedilum is a combination of Paphos - the name of the birthplace of Goddess Aphrodite (Greek Mythology), or Venus (Roman Mythology) and pedilon - shoe or shoe in Greek. Slipper orchids are very diverse in color and shape of the side petals and lips. Most slipper orchids live on high-humidity ground, at the foot of rotten trees or clinging to rock crevices and cavities in forests. Vietnam has many species of slipper orchids, some of which are endemic to Vietnam, most of which are listed in the Red Book. Due to many reasons, many species of Vietnamese slipper orchids are at risk of extinction in the wild. In order to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and raise people's awareness about protecting Vietnam's Paphiopedilum orchid species, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued the "Paphichid Orchid" stamp set. The stamp set includes 4 samples and 1 block, each stamp sample has a face price of 4,000 VND, the block face price is 15,000 VND, introducing the beauty of some rare and endemic species of slipper orchids and recorded in the Vietnam Red Book. The stamp set is expected to be issued on December 10, 2023 and expire on June 30, 2025. There are some products launched in this event:
